Juan Gabriel Parra Castro (born March 25, 1972 in Guasave , Sinaloa ) is a retired Mexican soccer player who mainly played in midfield .
career
Parra was under contract with UAG Tecos at least between 1992/93 and 1996/97 and was therefore part of the team in the 1993/94 season that - for the only time in the history of the Tecos club - won the Mexican football championship.
Parra then played for Atlético Celaya (1997) and Puebla FC (1999), among others .
Anecdotes
On the last day of the league round of the 1993/94 season (at the end of which the Tecos won the championship) Parra scored the winning goal in the 83rd minute to make it 2-1 against city rivals Chivas Guadalajara . With this goal, the record champions at the time fell back to third place in their group and thus had to go to the Repechaje (where Chivas failed to Atlético Morelia ), while their big city rival Atlas moved up to second place, tied on points but with the better goal difference, and thus moved up to second place qualified for the finals. There Atlas failed in the quarter-finals against Santos Laguna , who would later be the final opponent of Tecos.
