From a linguistic point of view, it had a lot in common with the early Shuadit ( Judaeo-Provençal ). Historically, ethnically and politically, the Catalan community has long been separate from the Shuadit community. This is mainly due to the Moorish occupation of the Iberian Peninsulatraced back. Judeo-Catalan flourished between the 12th century and 1492, when the Jews were expelled from Spain (see Alhambra Edict ).
