Judie Tzuke (1985)

Judie Tzuke (born Judie Myers , born April 3, 1956 in London ) is an English singer and songwriter .

Life

Tzuke is the daughter of music manager Sefton Myers and actress Jean Silverside. As a teenager she began to play the piano and guitar and to write her own songs, which she performed in local clubs. At the beginning of her career, she took on the previous surname of her Polish ancestors on her father's side, which they had dropped after immigration to England. In the mid-1970s she met the guitarist and songwriter Mike Paxman , with whom she still works today as an author, musician and producer . In 1977 the two released a single under the name "Tzuke and Paxo", These are the Laws . In 1978 Judie's first solo single For you followed . At that time she had a record deal with Elton John's label "Rocket".

Their first album Welcome to the Cruise was able to place itself in the UK charts straight away (number 14) and achieved gold status . The single Stay with Me till Dawn , a ballad written by Tzuke and Paxman with an opulent string arrangement penned by Paul Buckmaster , reached number 16 in Great Britain, but remained their only hit.

However, it would not be entirely correct to call her a one-hit wonder , because her subsequent albums from the 1980s were still listed in the charts ( Sportscar even reached the top 10 in 1980 ). After that, however, the commercial success of their music declined; She changed record labels several times out of dissatisfaction , has been releasing her CDs under her own label "Big Moon Records" since 1996 and has been selling them ever since - as one of the first musicians ever - via her website.

With John 'Rhino' Edwards and Jeff Rich , two ex-members of their backing band of British rock legend Status Quo joined in 1986 , while Mike Paxman became the producer and webmaster of Status Quo in the late 1990s . Judie Tzuke is still active as a singer today. In addition, she has built up a second mainstay as an author for other artists. The album Dive Deep by Morcheeba she steered the songs Enjoy The Ride and Blue Chair at.

She has two daughters (born in 1987 and 1994) with her partner Paul Muggleton , who produces most of her albums together with Paxman.
