Judit Varga (born September 10, 1980 in Miskolc ) is a Hungarian lawyer and politician . Since July 12, 2019, she has been Minister of Justice in the Orbán IV cabinet .

Life

Judit Varga attended the Avasi high school in Miskolc from 1993 . In 1999 she began studying law at the University of Miskolc , which she completed summa cum laude in 2004 . As part of the Erasmus program , she was at the Nürtingen University of Applied Sciences in 2003 . After completing her studies, she worked for law firms in Budapest and from 2006 to 2009 at the District Court in Pest . In 2009 she passed the bar exam.

From 2009 to 2018 she was political advisor to several members of the European Parliament , from 2009 to 2012 in the office of János Áder , from 2012 to 2014 for Erik Bánki and from 2014 for György Hölvényi .

In June 2018 she became State Secretary for Relations with the European Union . On July 12, 2019, she succeeded László Trócsányi as Minister of Justice in the Orbán IV cabinet , who moved to the European Parliament as a member of the European Parliament after the 2019 European elections. The EU agendas passed to the Ministry of Justice with the appointment of Varga as Minister.
