Judy Rifka (* 1945 in New York City ) is an American painter and multimedia artist .

life and work

Rifka was born in 1945 in New York City and studied at Hunter College , the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture and The Skowhegan School of Art. The Bachelor they gained at Empire State College , the Master at the Adelphi University . 1966 hitchhiked Rifka through France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Judy Rifka is rooted in Tribeca and the Lower East Side and is a member of the artist group Colab , which also includes Jean-Michel Basquiat , René Ricard, John Ahearn and Jenny Holzer .

Rifka's painterly work is known for canvases that are not mounted on stretcher frames, for collages and layers of paint and canvas that have been cut away.
