Julesee

The Julesee is a small artificial lake in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in the German state Schleswig-Holstein in the municipality of Oeversee and near the dune on the Treßsee . It was created in the mid-1990s in a natural depression by removing a drainage pipe as part of nature conservation measures.

Surname

The name, which has now been officially registered, was coined by Thorsten Roos, head of the district development, building and environment department of the Schleswig-Flensburg district . He initially named the lake within the family after his daughter Jule until the name finally u. a. made independent by the media.

Protection status

The lake is part of the Obere Treenelandschaft nature conservation project, which is up to 20 km² in size . In the immediate vicinity southeast of the lake is the nature reserve Düne am Treßsee . The lake is part of the FFH area Treene Winderatter See to Friedrichstadt and Bollingstedter Au .
