CD reviews

“Julia A. Noack's singer / songwriter does it without ever looking dated. Which of course is also due to the fact that the genre will never be really hip again. The guarantee for a long life! "(Intro)

“Solidly, with an earthy, robust sound and without any sentimentality whatsoever, Julia A. Noack implements her song ideas - and here, too, crosses a line, namely that of the international songwriter scene. Even if she muses about the fact that borders definitely have their meaning, fear of 'self-dissolution' through too close rapprochement with others, as she writes in the liner notes for the opener 'Undue merging', she by no means has to have an individual identity and recognition value Artists are out of the question. "(Cd-kritik.de)

“In the summer of 2007 the Berlin musician Julia A. Noack impressed as a plucking folk lady on her album 'Piles & Pieces'. This time, too, she comes up with simply beautiful songs like back then, but thanks to the ambitious production (responsible: Gerald Oppermann and the artist herself) they are in a much more diverse soundscape. Electronic troublemakers drive the programmatic 'Redefine' into parade, in 'Sudden Twist' the organ looms ominously, and the mysteriously whispered title track does without the beat, but not the ghostly voices that give the song the aura of a Japanese horror film. 'Me & the AD' almost wants to be Schunkelpop, but Noack's real persona is still that of the plucking folklady; even the sound tricks cannot hide that. This becomes very ear-catching in the genre mix 'Bee buzzin' ', where the intimate charm of their folk meets passages in what is almost Smith's indie pop style - and wins. "(Kulturnews.de)
