Julia Willie Hamburg (* 26. June 1986 in Hannover ) is a German politician of the party Alliance 90 / The Greens . She has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament since February 19, 2013, and as the chair of her parliamentary group since March 17, 2020 . From 2013 to 2014 she was also chairwoman of the Lower Saxony regional association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen .

Life

After Julia Willie Hamburg graduated from the Goetheschule in Hanover in 2004, she began studying political science , German philology and philosophy at the Georg-August University in Göttingen .

She has two children. After the birth of her second child, Julia Willie Hamburg fell ill with peripartal cardiomyopathy , a life-threatening heart muscle disease .

politics

Since 2007 she has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. From 2008 to 2010 she was the spokesperson for the Green Youth of Lower Saxony. Elected deputy state chairwoman of the Greens in 2011 and state chairwoman on February 17, 2013. In this office, Hamburg was the successor to Anja Piel , who was elected chairman of the parliamentary group shortly afterwards. Jan Haude was re-elected as state chairman; together, Hamburg and Haude formed the quota dual leadership of the regional association.

In the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2013 , Julia Willie Hamburg was elected over number 9 on the state list and thus moved into the state parliament.

In September 2013 she withdrew from political work for the time being due to her heart disease and, when the healing did not go as expected, resigned the office of state chairman in February 2014; she kept her seat in the Landtag. In the state parliament, where the red-green coalition only has one vote more than the black-yellow opposition, one member of the FDP parliamentary group did not take part in the votes either ( pairing agreement ). She has been exercising her state parliament mandate again since July 2014.
