Juliane Klein

Juliane Klein (born November 3, 1966 in Berlin ) is a German composer and publishing director.

Life

Juliane Klein studied clarinet, piano, composition, composition and improvisation as a young student at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin from 1978 , and from 1989 to 1992 she was a lecturer in composition and composition at the same university. Together with Thomas Bruns , she founded the “Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin” in 1987, of which she was director until 1991. From 1993 to 1997 postgraduate studies with Helmut Lachenmann in Stuttgart followed. In 1999 she founded the music publisher "Edition Juliane Klein".

As a composer she received residency scholarships at the Puschinskaja Desjat St. Petersburg (1995), the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris (1997), the Künstlerhof Schreyahn (2001), the Künstlerinnenhof “Die Höge” (2002), at the Musikakademie Schloss Rheinsberg (2003) ) and Villa Massimo ( Casa Baldi ), Rome (2004). In 2006 she was awarded the Music Prize of the Berlin Art Prize.

In 2010 Juliane Klein opened her own Christian-scientific practice in Berlin.

Compositional creation

Juliane Klein's catalog of works includes works for music theater, solo pieces, songs, chamber and orchestral music, as well as compositions for children and young people. The Staatsopern Berlin, Hannover and Stuttgart premiered their experimental opera productions, she wrote commissioned works for the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic , Deutschlandfunk Köln, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra , the Donaueschinger Musiktage , the days for new chamber music in Witten, the “Ultrasound Festival " Berlin.
