Juliano Ribeiro Salgado (* 1974 in Paris ) is a Brazilian director , screenwriter and cinematographer of documentaries , which in the Oscar ceremony in 2015 together with Wim Wenders and David Rosier for the Oscar in the category Best Documentary for his work on Salt of the Earth was nominated . The film also won a César for Best Documentary in 2015 .

Life

Salgado was born in Paris as the son of the photographer Sebastião Salgado and the pianist and architect Lélia Deluiz Wanick . He has a brother who is five years his junior and who has Down syndrome . He lives in Berlin and has one son.

The salt of the earth tells the story of Sebastião Salgado's life . According to Juliano Salgado's own account, this film project has significantly improved the strained relationship with his father. The film received several awards, including the jury's special " Un Certain Regard " award at the Cannes International Film Festival and the audience award at the San Sebastian Film Festival . In addition, the film was nominated for a César and an Oscar , each in the category "Best Documentary".
