Julie Umerle
Julie Umerle (* in Connecticut , USA ) is a British painter and contemporary artist. She lives and works in London.
life and work
Julie Umerle was born in the United States to an English mother and an American father. When she was five, she moved to London with her family . She studied French literature at the University of Sussex and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from University College Falmouth in Cornwall , England . In 1998 she completed her Master of Fine Arts at the Parsons School of Design , USA . She worked in London and New York from 1998 to 2003 .
Umerle won several awards from the Arts Council England (2015, 2008, 2007 and 2005) and an award from the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation (2001).
Umerle has exhibited her paintings in Europe and the United States, including at the Royal Academy of Arts , the Barbican Center and Art Basel Miami Beach . Her works can be seen in the Deutsche Bank Collection , Swindon Art Gallery, and many public and private collections.
