history

The name Wiesenbach is derived from the Wiesenbach flowing through the village, a right tributary of the Little Couple . In 1185 it was mentioned as Villa Wiesinpach or Wisinpach .
The oldest landlords were the lords of Hohenwart and the diocese of Freising . The Thierhaupten monastery and the marshals of Kalendin zu Neuburg are also mentioned early on . In the 15th century, the people of Rieder von Paar , based in Hofmark Unterbaar, acquired almost all of the farms in Wiesenbach, which lasted until the abolition of the manor in 1848.
Before 1800, the Catholic parish of Sankt Markus was provided by the parish of Sankt Laurentius in Oberbaar . The old parish church was built in 1695 by pastor Jakob Zörer, but was replaced by a modern hall church in 1958 with the exception of the tower.
Until July 1, 1972, Wiesenbach belonged as an independent municipality to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and then fell to the district of Aichach-Friedberg with the regional reform in Bavaria , which was called the district of Augsburg-Ost until May 1, 1973 . On January 1, 1978, it was incorporated into the Pöttmes market.
