Julien De Sart (born December 23, 1994 in Waremme ) is a Belgian football player who is currently under contract with the English first division club Middlesbrough FC . His preferred position is the defensive midfield.
Career
In the club
De Sart began his career at Standard Liège , where he made his debut for the first team on August 22, 2013 in the Europa League qualifier against Belarusian club FK Minsk . He came on for his first appearance in the 1st Division on August 25, when he was substituted on in the game against RAEC Mons shortly after the second half kicked off. A few minutes before the end of the game, however, De Sart was sent off with a yellow-red card. His first goal was against RAEC Mons on November 24th. After two and a half seasons with 47 league appearances and three goals, De Sart moved in February 2016 to the then English second division club FC Middlesbrough , with whom he was promoted to the Premier League in the second half of the season . De Sart only came on twice as a substitute.
In the national team
De Sart went through various Belgian youth national teams from the U-16. He was on the pitch nine times for the U-21 team and scored one goal.
Personal
De Sart is the son of the former Belgian national soccer player Jean-François De Sart . His brother Alexis De Sart is also a professional footballer.
