Julien Perrichon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Julien (Jean) Perrichon (born November 6, 1566 in Paris , † around 1600 there) was a French lutenist and composer.

Life

His father Jehan already worked as a violinist and oboist at the king's court and Julien advanced to the valet and lutenist of King Henry IV at the age of 18 , he remained in this position until his death. The date and year of his death is unknown. Some sources suspect his death around 1612, to which work attributions after 1600 may have contributed, but the proven remarriage of his wife in 1602 suggests that he died around 1600.

Works

He left behind a number of works for lute in various collections, which contemporaries judged to be of great mastery and is today considered an important representative of the early French lute school.
