Julio César Green (born May 19, 1967 in Las Terrenas , Samaná Province ) is a former professional boxer from the Dominican Republic and former world champion of the WBA middleweight division.

Boxing career

Green turned pro in October 1990 and was able to win in his 16th fight on October 23, 1993, the North American NABF Light Middleweight Championship prematurely against Wayne Powell (31-4). On April 19, 1994 he defended the title early against Lonnie Beasley (22-1).

On June 16, 1995 he lost the fight for the WBA world championship in light middleweight on points against Carl Daniels (34-1), but won the WBA title in August 1997 in the next higher weight class by a unanimous victory on points against William Joppy (24- 0). But already in the direct rematch in January 1998 Green lost this time on points.

Although he won the interim World Championship of the WBA against Darren Obah (16-2) in February 1999 , he was defeated again in the fight for the regular World Cup on September 24, 1999 against William Joppy. He then switched to the super middleweight division and boxed on July 27, 2002 for the WBA World Championship in this weight class against Byron Mitchell (24-1), but had to admit defeat to this prematurely. On March 13, 2004 he lost after a body hit by knockout in the first round against Mikkel Kessler (32-0) and ended his career in September of the same year.
