Julio Marbiz

Julio Ernesto Mahárbiz (born July 6, 1935 in the Argentine province of Córdoba ; † May 8, 2013 , Buenos Aires ), known under the name Julio Márbiz , was an Argentine producer and presenter .

Life

Márbiz grew up in a family of artists. His father was a tango singer from Lebanon. In 1951 he moved to Buenos Aires and started his career there. First he made a name for himself in the field of radio with local radio stations such as Radio Belgrano, Radio Porteña and Radio Splendid . He later became known as a presenter at events in the theater, and carried poetry at Radio Porteña since 1956. In 1958, he switched to Radio Belgrano, where he led the programs Aquí está el folklore and Calefones Universal .

From 1963 to 2001 he moderated the Festival de Cosquín . In 1968 he led Argentinísima for the first time on Radio El Mundo . This program was later implemented as a television program and also as a feature film. To this day he has produced a weekly television program with the same name Argentinisima for the Argentine television station Crónica TV . This program invites artists from Argentine popular culture. You will present your art as part of the program and have a short interview with the moderator. As an important figure in Argentine folklore, including tango, Julio Marbiz moderated many festivals in Argentina, such as the Festival de la Chaya (La Rioja) in the late 1960s. He also led through the ceremonies of the Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata . In 1976 he presented the film El canto cuenta su historia , a film that shows the popular music of Argentina over the years. During the period of the Proceso de Reorganización Nacional , the so-called national reorganization, he was forbidden to work on the grounds that he represented and defended Alfredo Zitarrosa and Los Olimareños.

From 1989 to 1996 he was director of the radio station Radio Nacional Argentina . He was also director of the Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (INCAA).

He redesigned the Instituto del Cine and opened a branch for the school of cinema, the escuela de cine (ENERC). In 1996 he founded the Tita Merello cinema and cultural complex . The last television report by this important Argentine artist was made in 1994 by Julio Marbiz. He promoted the resumption of the Festival de Cine de Mar del Plata.

Since the beginning of his career, he has dedicated himself to promoting popular artists of Argentine folklore, including tango. He accompanied internationally known artists such as Atahualpa Yupanqui , Mercedes Sosa , Soledad , Jaime Torres, Chaqueño Palavecino , Ariel Ramírez , and others.

He participated as an interpreter in 5 films. He worked as a screenwriter for another cinema project.

He also moderated radio programs, festivals and his television program Argentinisima .

In 2009 he celebrated the 40 años de Argentinisima at the Teatro Broadway in Buenos Aires, a 40th anniversary of his production. During these festivities, many important speakers of the Argentine folk culture performed.

In the same year he started the Primer Festival de la Canción .

He was married to Jovita Díaz. His four sons are working on his projects. Later the producer Mabel Ongaro was his life partner.
