Julius Ambrunn

Julius Ambrunn , also Jonas Ambrunn (born November 22, 1872 in Bad Neuhaus ad S .; died after January 23, 1942 in or near Riga , Latvia) businessman, was the last chairman of the Jewish synagogue community in Dorsten, which was destroyed by the Nazis (until 1942 ). Julius Ambrunn was on the board of the Dorsten synagogue community until 1932 . On January 23, 1942, the family and others were deported by the government agencies of the NSDAP apparatus to Riga , where their lives and traces were destroyed by the alleged perpetrators. In the Dorsten registration office there is the note: "All three deregistered on January 23, 1942 after unknown".

Life

He was married to Rosalie A., nee Rosalie Stegerhoff, born on November 20, 1871 in Soest. On March 8, 1912, both came to Dorsten. On February 3, 1912, their son Kurt A. was born, who became a textile merchant after attending high schools in Dorsten and Gladbeck.

In 1935 the Ambrunn family applied to emigrate to America, but the permit was not granted.

Commemoration

In 1988 the city of Dorsten named a street after Julius Ambrunn. a. the Jewish Museum Westphalia opened in 1992 is located.

There are three stumbling blocks in front of the house at Lippestraße 41, whose sponsorship was taken over by students from the local Matthäusschule (Alt-Wulfen).
