Julius Bode (born October 4, 1876 in Lüneburg , † April 11, 1942 in Bremen ) was a German pastor and politician .
biography
Bode was the son of a senior seminar teacher. He studied theology at the University of Göttingen and the University of Erlangen . After his ordination , he was pastor at the Evangelical Lutheran main church St. Cosmae et Damiani in Stade from 1903 to 1908 . Here he was also the pastor at the institution for the deaf and dumb . In 1908 he became pastor at the St. Ansgarii Church in Bremen. As a preacher he was popular because of his social outlook. He was also an active Freemason in the Friedrich Wilhelm zur Eintracht Lodge and was considered a political pastor. During the First World War he took an extremely nationalist point of view.
In 1919/20 he was a member of the constituent Bremen National Assembly . Here, too, he was a staunch opponent of the communists and socialists. But he also rejected the emergence of National Socialism and expressed himself critically about this development in public.
