Gustav Dehning

Gustav Dehning (born June 22, 1882 in Wrohm , † 1970 in Bremen ) was a German teacher and high school councilor in Bremen.

biography

Dehning was the second son of twelve children of a teacher. From 1902 to 1903 he attended the teachers' college in Eckernförde . From 1903 to 1907 he worked as a primary school teacher in Kiel . He then studied at the Humboldt University of Berlin , the University of Freiburg and the University of Leipzig and a doctorate Dr. phil. From 1912 to 1922 he was a teacher at the progressive Bremen teacher training college . From 1914 to 1918 he had to serve as a soldier in the First World War .

In 1919 he was one of the co-founders of the Bremen Adult Education Center . He was a promoter of the homeland movement . Since 1919 he tried to standardize the Low German language . From 1922 to 1926 he took the position of a district school council in Rendsburg . In 1927 he was appointed high school supervisor in Bremen. In 1933 he joined the NSDAP . He was therefore released by the military authorities in July 1945.
