Julius Caesar Häntzsche , also Julius Caesar Haentzsche , (born June 15, 1824 in Dresden , † September 17, 1901 ) was a German physician and scientist.

Life

After attending school and high school as well as successfully completing doctorates at the University of Leipzig as Dr. med. and Dr. phil. In the years 1848 and 1850 Julius Häntzsche became a member of the Geography Association, the Society for Nature and Medicine, the Isis Natural Research Society and the Trade Association in Dresden, as well as the German Oriental Society in Leipzig and Halle (Saale) .

He stayed in Turkey and Persia for ten years, partly together with State Councilor Dr. Mandrel. He was one of the few Europeans who traveled and scientifically explored the inaccessible mountain regions of these countries. For these services he received several honors after his return.

After his stay abroad, he settled permanently in his native Dresden as a general practitioner and at the same time worked as a freelance scientist, specializing in reports from Persia and publishing countless articles about them in newspapers and magazines and giving public lectures in Dresden and the surrounding area. In 1865, for example, his report A Day in the Harem in the illustrated magazine Die Gartenlaube, which was sold in German-speaking countries, attracted particular national attention .
