Julius Huther

Julius Hüther (born November 4, 1881 in Cannstatt , † August 9, 1954 in Munich ) was a German painter , draftsman and graphic artist .

Hüther entered the Munich Academy in 1900 and studied there with Gabriel von Hackl and Ludwig von Löfftz . From 1905 he was a member of the artists' guild “Die Juryfrei” and later the Munich Secession . In 1925 he accepted a professorship at the Munich Academy .

In terms of style, Hüther's early work belongs to the environment of the German Expressionists with the attempt to create visionary and imaginative visual worlds. Although he did not belong to the circle of the Brücke and the Blauer Reiter , he was close to these artists in terms of form and content. Nudes in the open air, religious representations, portraits and reproductions of horses were the focus of his work.
