The trading house Julius Kiennast is a group of companies located in Lower Austria , which is active in the areas of food retail and wholesale ( Nah & Frisch ), in deliveries to restaurants and in Austria-wide delivery of petrol station shops and kiosks of prisons. In addition, a department store with the Food Nah & Frisch divisions, a tobacco shop with POST partner shop, a fashion department and a SHELL service station are operated in the main store in Gars am Kamp. The company has a history of more than 430 years and is therefore one of the oldest still active trading houses in Austria .

history

A shop at the company's headquarters in Gars am Kamp was mentioned in a document as early as 1585, and in 1710 Mathias Kiennast took over the shop by marriage. 1910 was a gasoline - pump built, fuel supplier since 1925, Shell . From 1956 on, the wholesale business for the merchants' organization A&O was taken over, which later also operated as Nah & Frisch . In the mid-1990s, the Lower Austrian warehouses ( RWA ) began supplying fresh goods and dry goods. With the restructuring that took place in 1998, the current form of the group of companies emerged. The anniversary celebration held in 2010 was entitled: 300 years of the Kiennast company with the tradition of 430 years of trading . We have been cooperating with Eurogast , an association of Austrian catering wholesalers, since the beginning of 2011.

In 2016, Kiennast strengthened the future of Ignaz Pilz & Söhne GmbH as a strategic partner and took over the majority in the company.

The current company structure consists of the companies Julius Kiennast Lebensmittelgroßhandel GmbH, Pilz & Kiennast Handels GmbH, Julius Kiennast Retail GmbH, Kiennast Holding GmbH and Julius Kiennast eU

The trading house has four sales lines. The first line of business is wholesale for more than 200 local supply stores, including Nah & Frisch (65 outlets) and Lagerhaus (10 locations). As a partner of Eurogast, the second distribution channel looks after around 2,000 restaurants, hotels, large kitchens and catering companies. The third sales driver is the delivery of 250 petrol station shops via Shop Top Service , 30 of which are shops with the local supplier concept "Nah & Frischpunkt". The fourth part of the company is a department store in Gars am Kamp, with the Nah & Frisch supermarket, fashion department, tobacconist with postpartnershop and a SHELL petrol station integrated. In 2019, 336 employees achieved sales of around 99.3 million euros.

Participations: Shares are held in Shop Top Service GmbH (50% each Kiennast and Wedl), 16.67% in ZEV "Nah & Frisch" Marketingservice GmbH, 51% Pilz & Kiennast, 33.3% ÖGS and 8.33% in Eurogast Austria GmbH. Kiennast is also a member of MARKANT Austria .

Councilor of Commerce Julius Kiennast has been chairman of the Federal Food Trade Committee of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce since 2010 .
