Julius Nikles

Julius Nikles (born March 28, 1924 in Zahling, Eltendorf municipality ; † August 17, 2013 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer . Nikles was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1953 to 1982 .

Life

Nikles was born the son of the farmer Johann Nikles and attended elementary school in Zahling. He also completed correspondence courses and worked as a farmer in Zahling. Nikles served in the Wehrmacht between 1943 and 1945 .

politics

Nikles was a member of the SPÖ between 1946 and 1949, but resigned from the SPÖ in 1949 and resigned all functions in the district organization. Nikles was ÖVP councilor in Zahling from 1950, was elected local party chairman in 1951 and was regional youth leader of the ÖJB between 1952 and 1961. Between 1954 and 1972 he held the office of district party secretary, and between 1955 and 1987 he was a board member of the Raiffeisen organization Burgenland. In addition, from 1957 to 1985 he held the office of chairman of the agricultural warehouse cooperative Jennersdorf .

Between March 19, 1953 and October 29, 1982, Nikles was a member of the ÖVP in the state parliament and is still one of the longest serving state politicians in Burgenland.
