The Julius Raab Foundation for the Promotion of Research and Education is a non-profit foundation based in Vienna . Its purpose is to promote research projects and educational activities in the socio-economic and political field, taking into account Christian and democratic values. In the tradition of its namesake, the former Federal Chancellor Julius Raab , the foundation aims to further develop the model of the social market economy in a contemporary manner.

Julius Raab

Julius Raab was Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria from 1953 to 1961 and became known as the "State Treaty Chancellor ". The name of the foundation is intended to honor his person as a statesman and his advocacy for Austria and for state, social and economic policy in Christian-democratic goals.

The foundation was established by the declaration of foundation on October 2, 1991 in accordance with the Federal Foundation and Fund Act. Values ​​series

The work of the foundation is based on a set of values ​​consisting of freedom, responsibility, solidarity, equal opportunities and honesty. In the period from 2011 to 2012, the foundation published a volume of essays on each of the five values ​​with visions for the Austrian model of prosperity and quality of life. In 2016, the new edition with the title “Values ​​in Digital Change” was published.

Open innovation

In 2015, the Julius Raab Foundation organized four stakeholder workshops with the aim of getting involved in the political decision-making and opinion-forming process and making a concrete contribution to an open innovation strategy for Austria. This resulted in the publication “An Open Innovation Strategy for Austria”, which provided the basis for the Austrian Federal Government's Open Innovation Strategy. This was developed by State Secretary Harald Mahrer and presented in 2016 as part of the Alpbach Technology Talks.

Digi Play Days

The "Digi Play Days" are Austria's largest trade fair for digital learning games and were launched on September 15 and 16, 2016. The Julius Raab Foundation would like to show the potential of digital learning games in and outside of school. The most recent “Digi Play Days” took place on November 29, 2017.

EDI - simply digital!

With EDI - simply digital! the Julius Raab Foundation started a digital offensive for Austrian small and medium-sized companies . EDI offers a practical knowledge pool that serves to make medium-sized companies and their employees fit for the digital age. A readiness check, which helps to check the status quo, helps as well as numerous best practice examples and a wiki that simply explains complex new terms.

Un-f * ck the economy

The “Un-f * ck the Economy” initiative advocates solving social problems through entrepreneurial people, so-called social entrepreneurs. On this basis, the Julius Raab Foundation held information events in 2017 and published the study “Entrepreneurial Responsibility and Digital Change” and the essay “Are you crazy enough”.

Café Julius

Since 2017 the President of the Foundation has been inviting personalities from business, science and politics to a virtual coffee house, the “Café Julius”, and discussing current topics with them. The conversations are published as a vlog on the social web.
