The Political Academy of the ÖVP is the educational institution of the Austrian People's Party . According to its own statements, it promotes “civic, political and cultural education through seminars, training courses, lectures, publications and applied research”. The academy is housed in the Springer-Schlössl in Vienna .

Emergence

On July 9, 1972, the National Council passed the “Federal Law on the Promotion of Civic Education in the Field of Political Parties and Journalism”. This federal law stipulates that the federal government promotes the “civic education work of the political parties through donations to foundations or associations”. The Political Academy was founded that same year. In 1975 the final training and administration center was set up in the Springer Schlössl in Vienna-Meidling and was handed over to the Political Academy. The Vogelsangheim belonging to the ÖVP was already housed in the Springer Schlössl .

Political adult education

The Academy's political adult education follows the requirements set out in the 1984 “Journalism Promotion Act”. This includes, among other things, that the activities of the Political Academy are not geared towards profit and that the Political Academy promotes civic education in accordance with the principles of the Federal Constitution. The core task of the political academy is political adult education.

International cooperation

The Academy is involved in international cooperation with other party-related foundations as well as in the European " Think Tanks " and foundations "Center for European Studies" (CES), the "European Ideas Network" (EIN) and the "European Network of Political Foundations" (ENoP).
