Julius Rudolf Christof von Oldenburg (* 1735 ) was a Prussian officer and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

Oldenburg was a member of the noble family of the same name . He joined the Prussian Army and took part in the Battle of Leuthen in 1757 as an ensign in the Guard Regiment . In January 1773, regimental documents showed that he was 37 years and eleven months old. On September 27, 1781, he was promoted to staff captain in the Guard Regiment . On the anniversary of the Battle of Leuthen in Potsdam on December 5, 1786, he was awarded the order Pour le Mérite as a major in the Guard Regiment. The Spenersche Zeitung No. 147 reports on this from December 9th, 1787: “Potsdam, December 6th .... on the anniversary ... of the splendid victory at Leuthen in 1757, we had a touching military celebration. SM gave ... the officers of the 2nd and 3rd Battalion Guard still on duty public evidence of Dero gracious respect. The present staff officers .... von Oldenburg, Major in the Regiment Guard, ...., received the medal plm ... “His promotion to lieutenant colonel took place from the hands of the commander of the local residence, Lieutenant General von Rohdich on January 11, 1793 and March 1794, he received his Dimission after he was continuously with the Regiment Guard.
