Julius Theodor Zenker
Julius Theodor Zenker (* 1811 in Ehrenfriedersdorf , Saxony ; † June 28, 1884 in Thum , Saxony) was a German orientalist , translator and private scholar .
Among other things, he translated Manners and Customs of the Modern Egyptians by the British orientalist Edward William Lane into German under the title Sitten and Customs of Today's Egyptians and wrote the Ottoman dictionary , which is still in use in German-speaking countries today, called the Turkish-Arabic-Persian concise dictionary ( Leipzig: Wilhelm Engelmann, 1866–1876).
Julius Theodor Zenker was the father of the biologist Georg August Zenker .
