Junior Kabananga Kalonji (born April 4, 1989 in Kinshasa ) is a Congolese football player .

Career

society

After Kabananga played for several clubs in his home country, he moved from FC MK Etanchéité to Belgium to RSC Anderlecht at the age of 21 . There he made his debut for the professional team in the 2010/11 season before he was awarded to Beerschot AC for half a year in January 2011 . He spent the 2012/13 season on loan at KSV Roeselare and was then permanently signed by Cercle Bruges , where he signed a two-year contract.

He played with interruptions from 2015 to 2019 for FK Astana in the Kazakh Premier League , in the meantime also for Kardemir Karabükspor and al-Nasr . He has been under contract with Qatar SC since summer 2019 .

National team

Kabananga made his debut for the national soccer team of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2014 and scored a goal in his international debut on October 15 against Ivory Coast (4-3). He was part of the 23-strong squad for the 2015 African Cup of Nations and was used four times. The striker was once again called up to join the Congo DR team for the 2017 African Cup of Nations. He scored one goal in each of the three preliminary round matches against Morocco , Ivory Coast and Togo . In the quarter-finals he and his team lost 1: 2 to the Ghanaian national soccer team . With his three goals in the preliminary round, he was the top scorer of the tournament.
