Junior Maximus

Junior Maximus (born August 5, 1983 as Kalonga Tshibuabua in Kananga , Democratic Republic of the Congo ) is a heavyweight boxer licensed by the Association of German Professional Boxers .

At the age of ten he moved to Germany with his family. After winning the title of West German amateur champion in the heavyweight division in 1999, the title of international German champion of boxing amateurs followed in 2000. As an amateur he completed 20 fights, of which he was knocked out in 18.

In 2006 he switched to the professional camp and initially trained with Graciano "Rocky" Rocchigiani . Today Maximus lives in Düsseldorf . There he was trained by the former No. 3 in the WBC world rankings, Loui Pergau.

On January 17, 2009 he won against Jonathan Pasi and on May 9, 2009 against Denis De La Cruz. These were the fifth and sixth bouts as a professional. He won the six professional fights three times by knockout and on points. On October 4th, 2008 he won the fight against Richi Kwateng by knockout after only seven seconds of fighting time.

In 2010 he was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Düsseldorf Regional Court for extortionate kidnapping after he had locked up, beaten and threatened a debtor as a debt collector, so that he jumped out of the window of the third floor of a building on Berliner Allee and found himself difficult injured. He had to serve almost the entire sentence. Then he started boxing again at a French boxing stable.

At the African championship on Cape Verde on December 9, 2017, he won the heavyweight championship of the African Boxing Union by defeating the Moroccan defending champion Faïsal Arrami in ten rounds on points.
