Niçois Bernard Collomb-Clerc (born October 7, 1930 in Annecy , † September 19, 2011 in La Colle-sur-Loup ) was a French racing driver .

Career

Collomb drove motorcycle racing when he in 1960 a Formula 2 - Cooper bought. In 1961 he drove the Grand Prix of Vienna on the airfield course of Aspern and the Grand Prix of Naples. The Frenchman finished fourth in Aspern and sixth in the race in Naples.

The Formula 2 Cooper was replaced later that year by a Cooper T53 that Collomb raced in the 1961 French Grand Prix in Reims . Like the German Grand Prix , which he drove a few weeks later, he had to give up the race prematurely after a technical defect. The car was almost completely destroyed after a fire in training for the 1962 Brussels Grand Prix and Collomb had to get a replacement car, with which he finished fifth in Enna .

In 1963 the Cooper was replaced by a Lotus 24 , with which Collomb drove in races in the World Automobile Championship until mid-1965 . This car, too, fell victim to the flames. When returning from the Gran Premio di Siracusa , the racing car burned out completely when the van caught fire after an electrical damage.

The third racing car that Collomb bought was also destroyed. With his Lotus 35 he had an accident at the Formula 2 race in Barcelona in 1966, which left the car behind as a wreck.

In 1968, Collomb put an end to his unsuccessful monoposto efforts and continued to drive rallies with Renault Alpine vehicles for several years . In 1968 he also competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours with an Alpine A110 .
