Junior Strous

Joseph "Junior" Strous (born April 28, 1986 in Vlaardingen ) is a Dutch racing driver .

Career

After Strous was active in karting , he switched to formula racing in 2002 . He competed in various championships and was sixth in the Benelux Formula Ford , seventh in the Dutch Formula Ford and 16th in the German Formula BMW . In 2003 he competed again in several racing series. He was most successful in the Dutch Formula Renault, in which he was runner-up, and in the Benelux BMW Compact Cup, in which he won the championship. He was also 20th in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . In 2004 the Dutchman started again in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and improved to 18th place in the championship. He was more successful in the Dutch Formula Renault and the winter championship of the US Formula Renault, in which he won the championship title.

In 2005 he contested his third season in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and finished seventh overall with two podium finishes. He also stayed in the Dutch Formula Renault and was runner-up. In addition, he started two races of the Nordic Formula Renault, which he won both, and won the winter championship of the British Formula Renault. In 2006 Strous did not complete a full season in formula racing and started six races in the Italian Formula Renault, in which he was twelfth, and four races in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup , in which he was 27th. In touring car racing he won the championship title of the Benelux BMW Compact Cup for the second time and was runner-up in the Dutch Dacia Logan Cup.

In 2007 Strous moved to North America and competed in the Atlantic Championship for Condor Motorsports . With a fifth place as the best result, he ended the season in 14th place in the overall standings. In 2008 the Dutchman stayed with Condor Motorsport and won a race in the Atlantic Championship. In the overall standings, he was fifth. In 2009 he moved to Indy Lights at Winners Circle Group . Although he won the first two races of the season, he was fired from the team after the fifth race because he could no longer pay for his cockpit. At the end of the season he finished 20th overall. In addition, he took part in eight races of the Dutch GT4 championship and scored a victory with which he finished 23rd in the championship. In 2010 he started the season again in the Indy Lights. Starting for HVM Racing , he was released after the third race of the season. In the overall classification he was 19.
