The Juniperus spring is a karst spring in Donaueschingen in Baden-Württemberg .
description
The Juniperus spring is located in the Allmendshofen district on Juniperusweg . It is an oval walled basin, on the bottom of which lies the exit point. The source was named after the main character in the novella Juniperus by Joseph Victor von Scheffel . From 1901 to 1954 the source was part of the Allmendshofener and Donaueschingen central water supply. Before 1550 it was in a boggy reed called "fons Danubii" . After it was drained, numerous strong karst springs came to light. In the 18th century, it was not the Danube brook spring in front of Donaueschingen Castle , but the Juniperus spring that was given the questionable name of the Danube spring . The flow varies between 10 and 150 l / s. The Brunnenbach flowing out of the masonry basin feeds a Kneipp bath behind it , which is located on the side of the brook. The Brunnenbach flows through the Schwanenteich in Donaueschingen Palace Park and flows into the Brigach after 1.4 km .
