The Juojärvi is a 219.54 km² large lake in eastern Finland . It lies at an altitude of 101 m. The lake is within the municipal boundaries of Heinävesi , Liperi , Outokumpu and Tuusniemi . It is one of the cleanest lakes in the country. The Uusi Valamo monastery is located on the south bank .
Via the Juojärven reitti waterway , the lake is connected to Varisvesi to the southwest , which is part of the Iso-Kalla lake system . The height difference between the two lakes of 19 m is used by the Palokki hydropower plant with an installed capacity of 7.4 MW .
