Yuri Krakowezki

Juri Olegowitsch Krakowezki ( Russian Юрий Олегович Краковецкий ; English transcription Iurii Krakovetskii ; born August 27, 1992 in Bishkek ) is a Kyrgyz judoka who won two silver and two bronze medals at Asian Championships.

Athletic career

The 1.80 m tall Krakowezki competes in the heavyweight division, the weight class over 100 kilograms. He was third in the U20 Asian Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2010, 2011 and 2013 he was the Kyrgyz national champion. At the 2010 Asian Games, he finished seventh. In 2011 he finished fifth at the Asian Championships, in 2012 he was seventh. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 he lost his first fight against the Romanian Vlăduț Simionescu .

2013 Krakowezki reached the final of the Asian Championships in Bangkok and was defeated there by the Japanese Gaku Fujii . At the Universiade in 2013 he took fifth place. In 2014 he finished seventh at the World Championships and fifth at the Asian Games. At the Asian Championships in Kuwait in 2015 he reached the final as in 2013, this time he was defeated by the Uzbek Abdullo Tangriyev .

In 2016 the Asian Championships took place in Tashkent, Krakowezki lost in the semifinals to Tangriev, but won the bronze medal by defeating South Korean Kim Sung-min . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the Kyrgyz won his first two fights against the German André Breitbarth and the Ukrainian Jakiw Chammo , and lost to Tangriev in the quarter-finals. After another defeat in the hoping round against Cuban Alex García Mendoza , he finished seventh.

In 2017 Krakowezki won his fourth medal at the Asian Championships in Hong Kong. After his semi-final defeat by Kim Sung-min, he defeated the Kazakh Yelaman Yergaliyev in the battle for the bronze medal .

Krakowezki took third place in world cup tournaments or open continental championships three times: 2012 in Ulaanbaatar, 2015 in Misk and 2016 in Prague.
