Yuri Nikolayevich Voronov

Yuri Nikolajewitsch Voronow , also Georg , ( Russian Юрий Николаевич Воронов ; born June 1, 1874 in Tbilisi , † December 10, 1931 in Leningrad ) was a noble Russian botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is Voronov .

Live and act

Voronov first worked at the Botanical Garden in Tbilisi and after the October Revolution in Leningrad . He dealt with the flora of the Caucasus and also undertook botanical expeditions a. a. in Latin America.

Honors

The Voronov snowdrop ( Galanthus woronowii ), a species of the snowdrop ( Galanthus ) species, was named after Yuri Nikolayevich Voronow. Also the genus Woronowia Juz. from the rose family (Rosaceae) is named after him.
