Justin Perkins
Justin Perkins (born March 5, 1805 in Holyoke , Massachusetts , † December 31, 1869 in Chicopee , Massachusetts) was an American Presbyterian missionary and linguist.
He grew up on his father's farm, attended Amherst College and Andover Newton Theological School, and was ordained in 1833. Shortly afterwards he sailed to Persia as a missionary for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions , where he founded a mission house in Urmia in 1835 .
He contributed to the founding of the modern Syrian language.
