Justis Huni (* 4. April 1999 in Meadowbrook , Queensland , Australia ) is an Australian boxer in the super heavyweight , with roots in Tonga and Samoa .

Career

Justis Huni started boxing at the age of seven and trained at the Bethania Boxing Club under Mark Wilson and his father Rocki Huni.

In 2016 he won the super heavyweight gold medal at the World Youth Championships in Saint Petersburg , defeating the starters from Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, USA and Georgia. In 2018 he also won the international Ahmet Cömert Tournament in Istanbul .

At the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , he defeated Cristian Salcedo (5-0), Nigel Paul (TKO) and Mahammad Abdullayev (5-0), before he got out of the semifinals without a fight due to illness and won bronze. His opponent in the fight for the final would have been Qamschybek Qongqabaev .
