Nigel Paul

Nigel Paul (* 27. June 1989 in Chaguanas ) is an amateur boxer in the super heavyweight (over 91 kg) from Trinidad and Tobago .

Career

In March 2015, Paul won the national championships in his country for the first time and also played his first international fight. In August of the same year he took part in the Pan American Championships, but was eliminated in the first fight due to injury. The world championships in October also ended for Paul after the first fight, which he lost against Petar Belberow , Bulgaria , with 3-0 judge votes. In November 2015, Paul won a tournament in Georgetown .

Paul had only fought eleven fights when he qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in March 2016 by winning the semifinals of the American Boxing Confederation (AMBC) organized American Olympic qualification tournament in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . In the tournament he beat u. a. Edgar Muñoz , Venezuela (3-0). In the final he lost to Lenier Pero , Cuba (3-0).

In 2016 Paul played a fight for the Mexico Guerreros in the World Series of Boxing , but lost it.

Paul's trainer is Floyd Trumpet.
