Petar Rumenow Belberow ( Bulgarian Петър Руменов Белберов * 17th February 1990 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian boxer in the super heavyweight .

Career

The 1.93 m tall and around 105 kg heavy left-hand boom began boxing in 2008. In 2011 he took part in the European Championships in Ankara and the World Championships in Baku .

At the 2015 European Games in Baku he lost the first fight, but won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Championships in Samokow . In the quarter-finals he had surprisingly beaten Magomed Omarow before failing in the semifinals to Florian Schulz . He was thus qualified for the 2015 World Championships in Doha , where he defeated Nigel Paul and was eliminated in the second round against Filip Hrgović .

In the 2016 European Olympic qualification in Samsun , he defeated Maxim Babanin and made it to the quarterfinals, where he lost to István Bernáth. At the World Olympic Qualifier 2016 in Baku he came against Haris Aksalič and Dashdondog Enkhbaatar again in the quarter-finals, where he was eliminated against Marlo Moore. At the Strandja Memorial 2016 in Bulgaria, he won the gold medal with victories against Frazer Clarke and Maxim Babanin.

In 2017 he won the Tammer tournament in Finland and the Strandja Memorial in Bulgaria, defeating Qamschybek Qongqabajew , Peter Kadiru and Dean Gardiner , among others . At the 2017 European Championships in Kharkiv, he lost to Məhəmmədrəsul Məcidov in the round of 16 .

On April 21, 2017 he made his debut in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) for the British Lionhearts team , defeating Mohamed Arjaoui 2-1 on points. In November 2018 he won the silver medal at the EU championships in Spain . He was defeated in the final against Frazer Clarke, having previously beaten Ayoub Drissi, Giorgi Chigladze and Djamili-Dini Aboudou .

At the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , he was eliminated from Ayoub Ghadfa before reaching the medal ranks.
