Lenier Pero (born November 24, 1992 in Camagüey , Camagüey , Cuba ) is a Cuban amateur boxer and is currently active in the super heavyweight division .

Career

In 2009, Pero took part in the heavyweight division (up to 91 kg) for the first time in the men's national championships and won a bronze medal after he a. a. Erislandy had beaten Savón . In 2010 he started both at the World Youth Championships in the Azerbaijani capital Baku and the Youth Olympic Games and was able to win the gold medal both times. Among other things, he beat Fabio Turchi . In the same year he won the bronze medal again at the national championships. He lost to Osmay Acosta in the semifinals . After Pero had fought for second place at the renowned Strandja Memorial Tournament in February 2011, he was nominated for the Pan American Games , which he also won with victories a. a. over Yamil Peralta , Argentina g (13: 9), won. In December of the same year he also became the first Cuban champion, with the finals already for the 2012 Olympic Games qualified José Larduet struck with 34:20 points. At the 2015 World Championships , he surprisingly lost in the first fight against the later bronze medalist Bahodir Jalolov , Uzbekistan (2: 1). In the 2015 season, Pero fought for the Cuba Domadores in the World Series of Boxing and won seven out of eight fights in which he was used. Only the Englishman Joseph Joyce had to admit defeat (2: 1). In the 2016 season, Pero was used five times and won three fights. At the American Olympic qualification tournament in 2016, Pero u. a. Clayton Laurent , US Virgin Islands (3-0), and Nigel Paul , Trinidad and Tobago (3-0), and thus qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
