history

With the Act of Confederation took place in 1806, the media coverage of the Principality of Loewenstein-Wertheim and the county Erbach . The right-Main parts of the Löwenstein-Wertheim offices of Kreuzwertheim , Triefenstein and Rothenfels came to the state of the prince primate. The same applied to the Erbachische Amt Eschau (also Amt Wildenstein). The judicial situation initially remained unchanged: the offices served as courts of first instance. Since the Count's governments had ceased to exist as a second instance, the landlords Erbach and Löwenstein-Wertheim formed the common Princely and Countess Löwenstein-Wertheimsche and Graflich Erbachsche Justice Chancellery based in Kreuzwertheim as a court of second instance. The highest court was the Aschaffenburg Higher Appeal Court .

With a decree of April 21, 1809, the judicial system was reorganized. The landlords retained the civil jurisdiction of the first and second instance. In criminal matters, the Kreuzwertheim law firm was responsible for criminal offenses that belonged to the lower or middle jurisdiction. In criminal matters of high jurisdiction, it supported the Aschaffenburg Higher Regional Court . In the case of judgments by the Kreuzwertheim judicial office over 4 weeks in prison or fines over 30 thalers, an appeal to the Aschaffenburg Higher Regional Court was possible.

In the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt this regulation was initially adopted. The organizational patent reduced the privileges of the nobility. The Kreuzwertheim law office was reduced to a police court in criminal cases, and in civil law matters the regulations were adapted to those of the departmental courts.

On January 1, 1813, a new regulation of the court organization came into force, which was based on French models. Instead of the offices, peace courts have now been set up. Department courts existed for higher amounts in dispute. The Kreuzwertheim law office had no place in this structure. Since the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt went under in the same year, this organizational structure remained an episode.

After the transition to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1814 was the domination dishes first class Kreuzwertheim , Triefenstein and Rothfels for the former löwensteinischen offices and the Gräfl. created by Erbach'sches Herrschaftsgericht Eschau .
