from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Justus Friedrich Zehelein (born April 21, 1760 in Bayreuth ; † May 13, 1802 in Neustadt am Kulm ) was a German writer, composer, judicial officer and etcher.

Life

Zehelein was the son of a privy councilor . He worked as a German writer , musician and etcher . In addition to his musical oeuvre as a composer , he was also considered an “excellent cellist and illustrator ”. Justus Friedrich Zehelein became Amtskastner in Neustadt am Kulm in 1791 and first judicial officer (Royal Prussian judicial officer) in the city. In addition to his legal duties, he devoted himself extensively to art and culture.

At the age of 42, Zehelein died as the first judicial officer (Royal Prussian judicial officer) in the city of Neustadt am Kulm. The Oberdeutsche Allgemeine Literaturzeitung suggests a possible illness: his suffering ends with his life. With him, the sciences lost not only a popular poet, but also an excellent connoisseur of painting and drawing.

The following well-known poem comes from his pen:

Faithfully loved and kept quiet!
Hot love doesn't speak much;
Only in inaudible trains
the most sacred feeling flows.
Often a silent tear says
more than speech and melody;
oh love soft tones
are only harmony of the heart.
