- ↑ Westphal must not be confused with Johann Heinrich Westphal (1794–1831). In the NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) there also seems to be confusion with a third Westphal, namely Alfred Friedrich Julius Westphal ( Dr. A. Westphal ), a geophysicist (born August 1, 1850; † 1924), who first met in 1881 published. Justus Georg Westphal is mentioned only a few times in the ADS between 1853 and 1859.
