Jutta Ecarius

Jutta Ecarius (born January 22, 1959 in Kirchheimbolanden , Rhineland-Palatinate ) is Professor of Education in the Department of Education and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne .

After graduating from high school, Ecarius studied pedagogy for a diploma as well as German and political science for teaching at the Philipps University of Marburg from 1980 to 1985 .

After working as a research assistant at various institutions for several years , she completed her doctorate in 1994 at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg on the subject of “ Individualization and Pluralization in the Life Course ” with the grade “ magna cum laude .” After completing her doctorate, Ecarius worked as a research assistant at the institute for pedagogy at the University of Halle.

In 2000, he completed his habilitation in “Educational Science with a Focus on General Pedagogy ” with a thesis on “Family Education in Historical Change” . She then moved to the Department of Education at the University of Koblenz-Landau as an academic adviser for general education .

On October 1, 2004, she moved to the Institute of Educational Science at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen as Professor of Educational Science. Her focus there was the pedagogy of adolescents. From 2005 she was also appointed managing director of the Institute for Educational Science, which she held until 2007.

On April 1, 2011, Jutta Ecarius took over the chairmanship of Childhood Research at the Faculty of Human Sciences at the University of Cologne.
