Juvénal Uwilingiyimana

Juvénal Uwilingiyimana (* 1951 (?); † found on December 17, 2005 in Brussels ) was a Rwandan trade minister.

Life

Juvénal Uwilingiyimana came from Gisenyi Prefecture in the northwest of the country. In 1989 he was Minister of Commerce and in 1994 Director of the State Tourism Authority.

Uwilingiyimana has been missing since November 22, 2005. In Rwanda, he was to be tried before the UN Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) for his involvement in the 1994 genocide , in which he is said to have played a key role. Since 1998 he lived in Belgium . The ICTR, based in Arusha , had obtained an international arrest warrant against him on August 13, 2005. Until his disappearance he cooperated with the investigators of the ICTR and rejected all allegations. The cause of death has not yet been clarified.
