Kálmán Kulcsár

Kálmán Kulcsár (born June 27, 1928 in Erdőtelek , Heves County , Hungary ; † September 4, 2010 in Budapest , Hungary) was a Hungarian legal sociologist and politician.

Life

After studying law in Budapest, he worked at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as a research assistant, then from 1969 to 1983 director of the Institute of Sociology. In 1982 he was accepted as a full member of the Academy, in 1983 he was elected its Deputy Secretary General. From 1963 to 1970 he taught as an assistant professor at the University of Pécs , then as a full professor at the Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest.

From May 29, 1988 to May 22, 1990 he was Hungarian Minister of Justice in the cabinets of Károly Grósz and Miklós Németh . During this time he directed the preparation of a new constitution. From 1990 to 1993 he was Hungary's ambassador to Canada .
