Felix Ortel

Felix Ortel (born June 13, 1852 in Magdeburg , † January 26, 1940 in Bremen ) was Reichsbank director and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Ortel attended schools in Torgau and Posen . He learned the banking business and from 1875 was an official of the Prussian Bank and later Reichsbank director . In 1922 he published a pamphlet with the title Reichsgoldstelle: A proposal to create a value meter for our monetary system and to stabilize the paper mark . He was captain of the Landwehr and in the Franco-Prussian War 1870/71 in infantry regiment No. 46. He was also holder of the Landwehr service award 1st class , the war memorial coin 1870/71 , the centenary medal and the Red Eagle Order IV class .

From September 1905 to 1912 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency Marienwerder 4 ( Thorn , Kulm , Briesen ) and the National Liberal Party .
