Károly Levitzky

Károly Levitzky (* 1. May 1885 in Dorgoş ; † 23. August 1978 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian rowers, the 1908 Olympic third in one was.

At the Olympic Games in 1908 , the rowing competitions were held on the Thames near Henley . The course was so narrow that only two boats could compete against each other. Károly Levitzky won his first race against the Italian Gino Ciabatti. In the semifinals he lost to the British Alexander McCulloch . In the official result only places one ( Harry Blackstaffe ) and two (Alexander McCulloch) were rated. The German Bernhard von Gaza and Károly Levitzky, who were defeated in the race for the final, are listed in many sources as Olympic thirds, analogous to boxing.

Levitzky also competed in the 1912 Olympic Games four years later . Also on Djurgårdsbrunnsviken two boats competed against each other. Levitzky went through in the first round without opponents and lost in the quarterfinals to Mart Kuusik , who started for Russia .
