Cheese hedgehog

As cheese hedgehog is hedgehog -shaped arrangement of cheese skewers as a starter or snack , respectively. Here, the roughly diced cheese is put on small skewers or toothpicks together with grapes or other fruits , which are then stuck onto a large, mostly halved fruit (e.g. orange , honeydew melon , grapefruit or half a head of cabbage ) as a hedgehog spike .

Cheese urchins were a popular part of cold buffets from the 1950s to 1970s .
