The Kässbohrer Transport Technik GmbH is a manufacturer of vehicle transporters and trailers from Eugendorf at Salzburg .

history

In 1893 the master wagon maker Karl Heinrich Kässbohrer founded the Kässbohrer car factory in the German city of Ulm . The Kässbohrer Fahrzeugwerke developed into a major vehicle manufacturer, as part of the expansion into Austria in 1968 in Salzburg- Taxham purchased a site for the new Austrian plant. Here were commercial vehicles verschiedenster expression, built PistenBully components and in particular vehicle transporter. The sales and service (repairs, spare parts) of the Setra bus brand , all commercial vehicles and the PistenBully were also essential components . At the end of the 1980s, Kässbohrer Austria employed around 850 people at the Salzburg-Taxham location.

With the dissolution of the parent company in 1995, the brothers Heinrich, Ulrich and Otfried Kässbohrer were able to buy back the Austrian plant. They stabilized the economic basis of the company and achieved a sales increase of 250 percent over a period of five years. The company rose to become one of the leading European manufacturers of vehicle transporters. The commercial vehicle service area was expanded to become a second important pillar alongside the development and production of vehicle transporters.

In 2000, construction began on new company premises in Eugendorf, which went into operation a year later. The Kässbohrer Commercial Vehicle Service Center was implemented as a one-stop-shop concept for commercial vehicles. In 2007 the subsidiary Kässbohrer Car Carriers International was founded, which is also based in Eugendorf.

On August 1, 2016, ROHR Fahrzeugbau GmbH in Straubing , which has been insolvent since April 2016 , is to be taken over. Rohr specializes in refrigerated vehicles and tankers for mineral oil transport, airfields and the military and currently has 175 employees.
